BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The LIU Post volleyball team handled visiting Franklin Pierce with ease on Saturday, downing the Ravens 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-15) in non-conference action at the Pratt Recreation Center.

The first and third sets saw the Pioneers (11-3) make early runs, kicking off the opener with a 7-1 lead while opening the third set at a 7-2 advantage.

The Ravens (3-10) showed the most promise in the second set. The visitors did not trail by more than two points until the scoreboard read 14-11 in favor of the green and gold.  FPU was able to keep the competition close for the next few points until at 16-13, LIU Post closed out the game scoring nine of the final 12 points to secure the 25-16 victory.

Junior outside hitter Rachel Londot (Utica, Ohio) was the lone player in the contest to reach double-digit kill totals with 10. She also added nine digs in the match.  Setting duo Giulia Genna (Rome, Italy) and Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.) each tossed up 14 assists, while sophomore defensive specialist Allie Ahearne (Baldwin, N.Y.) had a career-high five service aces.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday for the Battle of the Boulevard as they travel to neighboring NYIT for an ECC tilt set for 7 p.m.
