BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's lacrosse team and head coach
Meghan McNamara announced the release of its 2018 schedule. The Pioneers begin the season with a road scrimmage at Wesleyan University before entering regular season play.
Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Pioneers in action at home this season, as the Green and Gold will host 10 games at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium, including a stretch of six out of seven contests midway through the season. This year's slate of contests includes seven opponents that appeared in the 2017 NCAA Division II Tournament.
The Pioneers kick off the regular season with two home matchups with Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Bentley University on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
After the two home contests, the Green and Gold take to the road for four away matchups, beginning with the team's East Coast Conference (ECC) opener at Jackson Field against Roberts Wesleyan University on Saturday, March 3. The road trip will wrap up with two nationally ranked opponents, as the Pioneers take on Le Moyne College Saturday, March 10, before traveling to sunny Orlando, Fla. to battle perennial powerhouse University of New Haven at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Tuesday, March 13.
ECC play continues for the Pioneers on Wednesday, March 21 when the squad hosts Molloy College to begin a five-game home stand. The stretch of home contests wraps up with a tough test against defending national champion Adelphi University on Wednesday, April 11.
The 2018 Battle of the Boulevard against neighboring New York Institute of Technology takes place at President's Stadium on Saturday, April 21, leading into the team's final two home contests. The Pioneers will take on Lindenwood University for the first time in program history on Wednesday, April 25 before hosting East Stroudsburg University on Senior Day on Saturday, April 28 in the regular season finale.
The East Coast Conference championship will begin on Tuesday, May 1, with the opening two rounds to take place at the higher seed, and the championship game on Saturday, May 5 on the campus of NYIT.
