NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Despite two goals by senior
Emily Miller the LIU Post field hockey team fell 3-2 to Merrimack College Saturday afternoon at Merrimack Stadium.
Along with Miller's two goals that took her total to 13 on the season, sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Vellis tied her career-high and had a season-high 10 saves. Senior
Tarryn Morris also added one assist.
The loss moves the Pioneers to 6-3 on the season and 4-2 in the Northeast-10.
Miller put LIU Post on the scoreboard early as she scored on a loose ball at far post at 0:52. Merrimack bounced back at 26:14 to tie the score but Miller again found the back of the net as she gave the Pioneers a 2-1 advantage at 33:55 as she tipped the ball in off a Morris feed.
The second half belonged to the Warriors; they scored at 41:05 and 52:01 as they went on to win the game 3-2.
