BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – A season-high attacking percentage of .409 helped the LIU Post women's volleyball team earn a 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-21) East Coast Conference victory over Roberts Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon inside the Pratt Recreation Center.
Along with its season-high .409 attacking percentage LIU Post also had 12 service aces, its second-highest total of the season, for the second time in 2018 as it also had 12 against LeMoyne College on Sept. 1
The Pioneers came out on top in every statistical category; kills 44-29, service aces 12-2, blocks 5-1, assists 40-25 and digs 35-31.
LIU Post improved its record to 16-11 overall and 6-4 in the ECC. The Pioneers' all-time record against Roberts Wesleyan is 11-3.
Match Rewind
The Pioneers took a 9-6 lead in the opening set and grew their lead further thanks to a 6-0 run keyed by a kill by sophomore
Asiya Way and also featuring kills by freshman
Kiora Ridgeway, junior
Lea Brady and a double block Ridgeway and Brady. Ahead 15-7, LIU Post used a 5-0 run to put the set out-of-reach and won 25-13.
The second set began as a back-and-forth battle with the Redhawks taking a 7-6 lead. With the score tied 8-8 LIU Post used a 4-0 run that featured a pair of service aces by junior
Kassie Akouri-Tejedor, a Brady kill and a Redhawk attacking error to take a 12-8 lead which they would not surrender. Up 15-12 the Pioneers then went on a 6-0 run featuring three Ridgeway kills, a kill by freshman
Sarah Mangan and a service ace by senior
Giulia Genna that put the set out of reach for Roberts Wesleyan as LIU Post won the set 25-15.
The Redhawks led in the early stages of the third as it was not until LIU Post took a 12-11 lead that the Pioneers had their first lead. The set played out as a back-and-forth battle as the score was tied 19-19 until the Pioneers broke away thanks to a kill by Ridgeway, a service ace by junior
Allie Ahearne and a kill by Colombo. The Pioneers closed the set out with back-to-back service aces by Akouri-Tejedor and won 25-21.

- Ridgeway had a match-high 13 kills with a .684 attacking percentage
- Junior Cara Kennedy had a career-high eight kills with a .553 attacking percentage
- Junior Shannon Sahli tied her career-high in kills with seven
- Eckhardt tied for the match-high in digs with 10
- Genna had a team-high 22 assists
- Akouri-Tejedor had a match and career-high six service aces. Only Colombo has had more in a match this season as she had seven against Bentley University on Oct. 14. She also handed out 13 assists
