FINAL RESULTS
BREWSTER, Mass. – The LIU Post women's golf team closed out the fall portion of its 2018-19 schedule with a third-place finish at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship at the Captains Golf Club on Sunday, Oct. 21 and Monday, Oct. 22.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 382 on Sunday before improving by 21 strokes for a 361 finish on Monday for a two-day total of 743. The final tally was the second-lowest two-round total of the year for the Pioneers who posted a 702 at The College of Saint Rose Fall Invitational in early September.
Senior
Abby Snidemiller was the top individual finisher for the Pioneers, finishing sixth overall for her second top-10 finish of the season. Junior
Claire Pohalski joined Snidemiller in the top-10, finishing ninth, overall.
Snidemiller carded the lowest round of the day for LIU Post on Sunday, posting a 91 with four pars on the card during a cold, blustery afternoon. During the final round, she bested her round one score by one stroke with five pars on the day, including three on her back nine. Pohalski posted her career-low round on Monday with an 88 behind eight pars, including five on the final nine holes for a two-day total of 185.
Seniors
Marissa Bennett and Natalisa Schaefer rounded out the team scoring with two-day scores of 187 and 190, respectively. Bennett carded three pars en route to a 95 on day one before tallying four pars during a round of 92 on Monday. Schaefer followed suit on her second day, bettering her day one score of 98 by six strokes on Monday with six pars, including five pars during a seven-hole stretch during the middle of her round.
Junior
Shannon Fox competed as the fifth team-score member, posting rounds of 98 and 95 for a two-day total of 193. Fox carded nine pars during her two rounds, including consecutive pars on the par-3 fifth and par-4 sixth holes on Monday.
Pohalski was not the only Pioneer with a career performance, as sophomore
Clare Alaimo recorded consecutive career-low rounds during the event. Competing as an individual, Alaimo posted her then career-best round of 104 during the opening round with pars on the par-3 third and par-3 15th holes. During the final round, she posted a 103 with one par on the 265-yard, par-4 sixth hole.
