SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Four different players scored as the LIU Post women's soccer team rolled past American International College Saturday, 4-0.

The Pioneers improve to 7-2-1 on the year while the Yellow Jackets slip back to .500 at 6-6.

It was an outstanding offensive performance for the Green and Gold, outshooting AIC 15-6 including a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow recorded four saves to earn her fifth shutout of the year.

Freshman Terese Markelund led the way with three points on the day behind one goal and one assist. Markelund helped spring the Pioneers to the game's opening goal with less than two minutes to play during the first half when she found classmate Kendra Oldroyd with a through ball to give LIU Post a 1-0 lead at the half.

Nearly 15 minutes into the second half, it was Markelund's turn to find the back of the net when fellow freshman Amanda Hjelle led Markelund behind the defense with a through ball to give LIU Post a 2-0 advantage. From there, the offensive onslaught ensued as the Green and Gold scored two more times during the next 10 minutes on goals by sophomores Erin O'Connor and Samantha Gordon to give the Pioneers the convincing 4-0 victory.

LIU Post returns home tomorrow when they host Lincoln University for an East Coast Conference matchup beginning at 12:00 p.m.
