BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference and Northeast-10 Conference announced another round of LIU Post weekly award recipients on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
Four more student-athletes garnered weekly awards, expanding on the sweep of the NE10 football awards released on Monday. The ECC tabbed graduate student
Lukas Ostermann as the men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and freshmen
Kendra Oldroyd and
Margaret McKeever as the league's Rookie of the Week for women's soccer and women's cross country, respectively. The NE10 rounded out LIU Post's award recipients when it announced freshman
Emma Braeckmans as the field hockey Rookie of the Week.
Ostermann had an outstanding week for the Green and Gold, earning at least one point on each of the five Pioneer goals over two victories against Post University and the University of the District of Columbia. The reigning ECC Rookie of the Year tallied two goals and added an assist during the 3-1 victory against the Eagles to open the week before following up with two goals during a 2-1 win against the Firebirds on the weekend. Ostermann currently ranks third in the country in goals per game (1.30) and seventh in total points (31).
The LIU Post women's soccer team also posted a perfect record on the week, defeating Queens College, American International College, and Lincoln University. Oldroyd tallied two game-winning goals during the stretch, netting the go-ahead goal against the Yellow Jackets and Lions to help lead the Pioneers to the three victories. The freshman finished the week with three total goals, finding the back of the net twice during the first half against Lincoln.
McKeever led LIU Post's women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish out of 29 teams on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park as the Pioneers finished with 154 points. McKeever clocked in at 19:46.00 to take 17th-place individually during the 227-runner race in the 5K.
Braeckmans had two goals in LIU Post field hockey's 7-0 win against Saint Thomas Aquinas on Monday, Oct. 1 and assisted on the game-winning goal during the Pioneers' 3-2 win over Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, Oct. 6.
