BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Led by a game-high 32 points by graduate student
Sasha Patterson, the LIU Post women's basketball team upended Daemen College, 70-54 inside the Pratt Recreation Center on Friday, Dec. 14.
Patterson finished within a single point of her career-high total of 33 set against Mercy College on Dec. 9, 2017. The forward knocked down 13 of her 19 shot attempts while finishing 6-of-8 from the charity stripe. Patterson added 17 rebounds for her fifth-consecutive double-double.

Shannon Doyle was the only other Pioneers to finish in double figures, netting 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting, dishing out three assists in the process. Redshirt-junior
Taylah Hudson led the Green and Gold with four assists.
As a team, the Pioneers shot 43-percent (23-54) from the field and held Daemen to just 29-percent (18-62) shooting in the contest. LIU Post garnered a 44-36 advantage on the glass, including a 32-23 margin in defensive rebounding.
Trailing 9-6 late in the first quarter, the Pioneers put together a 10-0 run behind five points apiece from Patterson and freshman
Ja'Lyn Armstrong, shooting 3-of-3 from the field and tallying three steals on the defensive end. Daemen came storming back in the next few moments, outscoring LIU Post 14-2 on a 4-of-4 shooting effort to retake the lead, 23-18. The see-saw action continued with the Green and Gold outscored the Wildcats by 13 points during the next eight minutes to take a 39-30 lead into halftime.
The lead stretched to 12 points by the end of the third quarter and eventually blossomed to 17 points early in the fourth before Daemen clawed back to cut the deficit to single digits (61-52) at the 3:06 mark of the contest. The Pioneers put the game away with nine of the final 11 points to improve to 3-0 in East Coast Conference play and 9-1 overall on the season.
The weekend concludes for the Pioneers when LIU Post hosts Roberts Wesleyan College inside the Pratt Recreation Center at 1:30 p.m.
