BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Junior guard Asia Turner knocked down a career-high five three-point field goals, while redshirt-junior guard Taylah Hudson added a career-high four to help the Pioneers to an 80-67 victory against Roberts Wesleyan College inside the Pratt Recreation Center on Sunday, Dec. 16.

The 14 three-pointers rank second all-time in program history, finishing just two shy of the mark of 16 set against Daemen College on Jan. 12, 2018. Junior Mikaiya Moore matched her career high with two three-pointers and senior Shannon Doyle added three buckets from beyond the arc for the Pioneers.

Overall the Green and Gold shot 44-percent (27-62) from the field and 93-percent (12-13) from the free-throw line. The three-point shooting was the difference as the Redhawks held a 37-28 edge on the glass and finished the contest shooting 45-percent (27-60) from the field. Roberts Wesleyan scored 44 of its 67 points in the paint while the Pioneers netted just 18 points in the key.

Roberts Wesleyan took control early and took a 29-20 lead with 5:16 remaining in the second quarter after a six-point burst. The tides changed in a hurry, however, as LIU Post closed the half on a 14-0 run behind four three-pointers to take a 34-29 lead into halftime. The run continued deep into the third quarter where the Pioneers eventually scored 34 of the next 44 points to take a commanding 15-point lead (59-34). The Redhawks could never cut the deficit to single digits from there, as graduate student Sasha Patterson scored six of her 10 points during the fourth quarter to help the Pioneers hang on for their 10th victory of the season and 17th win during the last 19 games inside the Pratt Recreation Center.

The Green and Gold will take a 13-day hiatus from competition before traveling to Felician University for a non-conference matchup on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 1:00 p.m.
