BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Following a 2-1 week, including a 2-0 victory against regionally ranked Franklin Pierce University, the LIU Post baseball team earned the No. 8 spot in this week's National College Baseball Writers Association East Region rankings.
 
The Pioneers have started the season with an 8-6 record, including two wins against fifth-ranked Franklin Pierce. Junior James Varela has continued to dominate on the mound, improving to 3-0 with a four-hit shutout against the Ravens last week, a gem that included 12 strikeouts on the day.
