GILBERT, Ariz. – Following an outstanding season on the turf coupled with an outstanding semester in the classroom, the LIU Post field hockey team was recognized with the Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division II National Academic Team Award, March 20.
The Division II National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that have compiled a grade-point average of 3.0 or greater during the fall semester.
LIU Post was one of 27 Division II programs to be recognized with the distinction this season and was one of 10 Northeast-10 programs to earn the distinction. The Pioneers garnered a 3.59 GPA during the fall, making them the fifth-best performing program in the country. Slippery Rock University, Lindenwood University, Southern New Hampshire University and Adelphi University rounded out the top five performers this season.
The Green and Gold had another outstanding season on the field as well, finishing with a 19-4 overall record and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships in November.
