BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 7/11 LIU Post women's lacrosse team continued to roll in East Coast Conference play, taking down the University of the District of Columbia 21-5 at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium March 24.

12 different players found the back of the net for the Pioneers, including four-goal outputs by sophomores Paige Sherlock and Alyssa Mallery. Freshmen Krysta Sollecito and Victoria Staker contributed to the goal total with their first career tallies during the victory.

On the defensive end, senior Olivia Kirk and sophomore Jill Hummel combined for three saves on the day. As a unit, the Pioneers held a 19-4 advantage in ground balls, while holding a 17-4 edge in turnovers and outshooting the Firebirds, 33-8.

Less than two minutes into the contest sophomore Sara Stephens put the Green and Gold ahead with her fifth goal of the season off of a feed by classmate Angela Deren. Stephens tallied another goal moments later to help spark a 5-0 run to begin the contest. Leading 8-2, freshman Jamie Alvino finished off a look from Deren to jumpstart another 5-0 burst before the Firebirds added two goals late to head into halftime with LIU Post ahead 13-4.

It took less than two minutes for the Pioneers to strike first again during the second stanza, as sophomore Jill LoManto found Sherlock for the half's first goal to lead five unanswered strikes by the Pioneers. The Firebirds scored their final goal with 18:12 remaining, as Sollecito and sophomore Maddie Titus notched the final three goals of the day to give LIU Post the 21-5 victory and stay unbeaten in ECC play.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday, March 31 when they host Stonehill College in non-conference action in game three of their current five-game homestand beginning at 12:00 p.m.
