BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 7/8 LIU Post women's lacrosse team scored a program-record 25 goals and sophomore Alyssa Mallery led the way with a career-high 12 points as the Pioneers outlasted No. 7/9 Mercy College, 25-18 at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium April 14.

The 25 goals were the most by the Pioneers in a single game in program history, bettering the previous mark of 23 goals set twice during the 2009 season.

Mallery tallied eight goals and added four assists for the 12 points. Classmates Brianna Feldman and Paige Sherlock tallied five and four goals, respectively.

The Pioneer offense was extremely efficient all day, recording a .757 shooting percentage, scoring on 25 of 33 shots on goal. Senior Olivia Kirk did just enough between the pipes for LIU Post, making 13 saves on 31 shots on goal for her 10th victory of the season.

The goals game early and often Saturday, as Mallery found the back of the net just 32 seconds into the contest to start a span of six back-and-forth goals during the opening six minutes. With the score tied 3-3, junior Trish Brisotti ripped home a shot to spark a 3-0 run by the Pioneers to help build a 6-3 lead less than halfway through the opening stanza.

Mercy responded in a big way with four goals in just over four minutes to take its first lead of the day at 8-7. Mercy's Hunter Isnardi found the back of the net with 2:17 remaining in the half to close out the scoring in an offensive led first half, as both teams headed into halftime with the score deadlocked at 11-11.

The Mavericks took over momentum early out of the halftime break, scoring six of the first seven goals to open their largest lead of the game, 17-12, with 23:59 to play. Brisotti halted the momentum with two goals in a span of 28 seconds and Feldman added a third goal 20 seconds later to cut the deficit to two goals in under a minute of game action. The Pioneers eventually stretched the run to eight unanswered goals, taking a 21-17 lead with 12:40 to play. The Mavericks got one goal back just 38 seconds later, but the Green and Gold scored the final four goals of the contest to earn a clutch 25-18 victory.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 10-3 on the year and remain a perfect 6-0 in East Coast Conference play. LIU Post puts that perfect record on the line on Wednesday, April 18 when they travel to Queens College for a 4:00 p.m. matchup with the Knights.
