EAST REGION POLL

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post baseball team swept regionally-ranked Southern Connecticut State in a three-game series this weekend and remained ranked No. 6 in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Poll.
 
It was a big shakeup in the standings this week after No. 17 Le Moyne College took two of three from No. 7 University of New Haven to overtake the Chargers for the top spot in this week's poll. While the middle portion of the poll remained relatively unchanged, the backend of the rankings also saw movement as Molloy College, Adelphi University, Bentley University and Wilmington University, and Southern Connecticut State all changed positions or moved into the rankings.
 
Junior James Varela earned East Coast Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week honors once again after registering his sixth consecutive complete game on the mound, tossing a three-hitter in the series opener with a career-high 13 strikeouts.
 
The Pioneers will have the week off before returning to ECC play with a four-game set against Mercy College on Friday, April 20 at 12:00 p.m.
