NCBWA RANKINGS

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – A 4-2 week for the LIU Post baseball team helped the Pioneers maintain the No. 7 ranking in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association east region poll as announced April 2.
 
The Green and Gold earned a series win in its first two East Coast Conference series of the season, taking three games from both New York Institute of Technology and the University of Bridgeport.
 
It was a slugfest to open the week, as the Pioneers outlasted NYIT 15-8 on March 26 before dropping the series finale on March 27. The Pioneers provided plenty of dramatics in the series opener with Bridgeport on March 29, scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth, capped off by a walk-off single by senior Joe Piscitelli, to take down the Purple Knights 3-2. Following a loss in game two on March 30, LIU Post stormed back to take both ends of a doubleheader on March 31 to earn the series victory.
 
The Pioneers will continue play this week when they battle Pace University in non-conference action before facing Queens College in a four-game ECC set this weekend.
