GREENWOOD, Ind. – Following outstanding cross country and track & field seasons, LIU Post senior
Talya Williams earned Google Cloud Division II Academic All-America second team accolades as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America June 20.
Williams posted impressive numbers in competition and in the classroom as a senior, graduating in May with a degree in criminal justice. Her 3.97 cumulative grade point average was among the highest nominated student-athletes for the award.
During the fall, Williams garnered East Coast Conference Runner of the Year honors after taking first place in the conference championship meet and eventually qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championship. For the season, she netted four individual victories in 5,000-meter events.
The success continued for the Schenectady native during the winter, as Williams captured nine indoor event titles, including the one-mile run and 3,000-meter run at the ECC Championships. Williams rounded out the season with four outdoor victories, including first place in the 1,500-meter run and 5,000-meter run, capping off five conference titles during her senior season.
