ECC RELEASE
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced LIU Post senior sprinter
Stefan Adams as the conference's male Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year June 19.
Adams captured his first major conference award after an outstanding outdoor season. The Jamaica native won two conference championships in the 200-meter dash (21.65 seconds) and the 400-meter dash (47.37 seconds). The senior went on to earn second team All-America honors with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships in the 400.
The success on the track was consistent all season for Adams, as he finished first in the 200 and 400 in every event before the NCAA Championships, including a first-place finish in the IC4A/ECAC Division I Championship in the 400 and a record-breaking time of 47.03 seconds at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championships. The United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association recognized Adams as an All-East Region member in both events in May.
