Field Hockey Selected Third in NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference announced Monday that its member field hockey coaches selected LIU Post to finish third in the league's preseason coaches' poll in 2018.
 
The Pioneers earned 149 points and three first-place votes from the 14 head coaches in the league. Stonehill College is the favorite to win the league title with 156 total points and five first-place votes, with Saint Anselm College notching 154 points and five first-place votes to finish second.

   
LIU Post captured its second-consecutive NE10 championship in 2017 when it defeated Assumption College, 4-1. Following the conference title, the Green and Gold entered the NCAA Division II National Championship as the No. 1 overall seed before falling in the national title game to Shippensburg University.
 
The Pioneers return several key contributors in 2018, including senior forward Emily Miller who finished second in the country in total goals with 40 tallies during the 2017 season. As a team, LIU Post led NCAA Division II in assists per game (3.13), points per game (11.04), and shot percentage (0.219).
 
The 2018 campaign begins on Thursday, September 6 when the Pioneers host West Chester University at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
