GILBERT, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced that the LIU Post field hockey team enters the 2018 season as the No. 3 ranked team in the Penn Monto/NFHCA National Preseason Coaches' Poll Tuesday.
LIU Post joins Northeast-10 Conference counterparts Stonehill College (No. 6), St. Anselm College (No. 7), and Merrimack College (No. 9) in the top-10 national poll. Defending national champion Shippensburg University was the heavy favorite, garnering 239 points and 18 first-place votes, while East Stroudsburg University enters as the No. 2 ranked squad with 194 points and four first-place tallies.
The Pioneers garnered 161 points in the voting, including one first-place vote. The Green and Gold finished as the national runner-up last season with a 19-4 overall record, reaching the National Championship game for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
