GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – The LIU Post women's golf team opened the 2018-19 season at the Saint Rose Fall Invitational Sept. 9-10 at Western Turnpike G.C., posting a seventh-place finish at the nine-team event.
 
The two-day total of 702 is the second-lowest team score in nearly two years for the Pioneers who posted a total of 700 at the East Stroudsburg University Invitational this past spring. The Green and Gold tallied a 347 to finish sixth after day one before fighting the elements en route to a 355 on day two.
 
Senior Abby Snidemiller was the top performer for LIU Post, finishing at +24 for the event for a two-round score of 168. Snidemiller paced the Pioneers on day one, shooting an 82 to finish the day in ninth-place as an individual. On Monday, she posted a round of 86 to finish 14th overall. Fellow senior Natalia Schaefer led the way on day two, posting a round of 85, shaving six strokes off her day one total to move up four spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 27th overall.
 
Rounding out the team scores for LIU Post were junior Shannon Fox and sophomore Claire Pohalski. Fox was consistent throughout the event, carding rounds of 85 and 88 to post a top-20 finish, while Pohalski fired a round of 89 on Saturday before adding a 96 on Monday to finish 35th.
 
Sophomore Clare Alaimo posted one of her best tournaments during her young career, carding a career-low round of 112 on day two of the event.   
 
The Green and Gold return to action Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Kutztown Fall Invitational at Moselem Springs G.C. in Fleetwood, Pa.
