WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference (ECC) announced its women's lacrosse preseason coaches poll Friday and the LIU Post women's lacrosse team was selected to win its fifth-straight conference championship.
 
The Pioneers garnered 79 votes and seven first place votes to sit atop the poll. Along with the winning the ECC title in 2018, the Pioneers advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship.
 
The Pioneers have also been featured in the national preseason polls; they were tabbed No. 6 and No. 7 by Nike/US Lacrosse and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) respectively.
 
In 2019, LIU Post welcomes back 2018 IWLCA All-American junior duo Brianna Feldman and Alyssa Mallery. Along with Feldman and Mallery, 2018 All-East Coast Conference honorees redshirt-senior Carly Spano, junior Paige Sherlock, senior Trish Brisotti, junior Kendall Purdy and sophomore Jill LoManto also return for the Pioneers.
 
LIU Post opens its season against Merrimack College at 11:00 a.m. inside Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Saturday, February 23.
