BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 4/10 LIU Post women's lacrosse team suffered an 8-7 setback in overtime against the No. 24 New York Institute of Technology Saturday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Pioneers got off to a hot start after goals to Sherlock (29:15), Deren (10:28) and Stephens (5:23) gave LIU Post a 3-0. The Bears added two goals prior to halftime and the Pioneers went into the break with a 3-2 lead.
Mallery gave LIU Post a 4-2 lead with 28:42 on the clock after an assist from Feldman but NYIT responded with another two goals to tie the game, 4-4. Back-to-back goals by Sherlock with 15:01 and 14:19 remaining gave the Pioneers a 6-4 advantage but the Bears scored again with 13:42 left to play. Brisotti's goal with 11:26 on the clock saw LIU Post take a 7-5 lead but NYIT added another two goals prior to time expiring, sending the game into overtime.
Overtime was a back-and-forth battle but a goal by NYIT with 30 seconds left to play saw the Bears prevail with a final score of 8-7.
