WASHINGTON, D.C. – 11 different players scored as the LIU Post men's lacrosse team remained perfect in East Coast Conference action with a 20-8 victory at the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, April 6.
 
Junior Alex Russell led LIU Post with six points, scoring four goals and adding two assists, while sophomore William Snelders tallied four goals and one helper. Redshirt-junior Thomas Liantonio, and juniors Nick Grassa and Dan Foley added two goals apiece, while on the defensive end senior Bryan Ochs and sophomore John Whitenack combined for 14 saves. Freshman John Ruddick also saw action between the pipes for the Pioneers.
 
At the faceoff X, senior Connor Farrell finished 20-for-21 to improve his season winning percentage to 86-percent (228-265). Overall the Pioneers won 26 of 30 faceoffs, as sophomore Dalton Chea added six wins in nine attempts.
 
The Green and Gold outshot the Firebirds by a 46-37 margin and finished 4-for-9 on extra-man opportunities. Defensively, LIU Post forced 24 turnovers and finished 15-for-18 on clear attempts on the day.
 
Despite being held scoreless for the first eight minutes of action, LIU Post scored three goals in 46 seconds during the first quarter to open up a 3-0 lead. The Firebirds got on the scoreboard moments late in the period before senior Steven Frank gave the Pioneers a 5-1 lead at the end of the stanza.
 
It took just five seconds for the Pioneers to find the back of the cage during the second quarter and the Green and Gold closed out the half on a 6-0 run to take a 12-2 lead into the halftime break.
 
The Pioneers continued to roll during the second half, outscoring the Firebirds by a 5-2 margin during the third quarter before UDC added four goals during the final period.
 
LIU Post returns to action when it hosts the New York Institute of Technology in the 2019 edition of the Battle of the Boulevard rivalry on Saturday, April 13 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
