D2CCA RELEASE
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced its all-region teams for baseball Wednesday afternoon and three members of the No. 25 LIU Post baseball team garnered recognition.
Freshman
Joshua Loeschorn was named to the All-East Region First Team while seniors
James Varela and
Anthony Vaglica earned second-team honors.
Loeschorn adds all-region honors to his list of postseason awards that also includes East Coast Conference (ECC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Year honors along with a spot on the all-conference first team. He ranks among the best in the nation in several statistical categories as his .73 WHIP leads the nation while his 1.36 ERA is third, his 5.20 hits allowed per nine innings is fifth, his nine victories are sixth, his 1.24 walks allowed per nine inning are 16th, and his 6.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio is 21st.
Varela, who was also named to the ECC All-Conference First Team, garners D2CCA All-East Region honors for the second time in his career. With nine victories this season, his 124 strikeouts rank fifth nationally, his 2.01 ERA is 20th, his 5.17 strikeout-to-walk ratio is 33rd.
Vaglica, an ECC All-Conference First Team honoree, is hitting .331 on the season and has tallied 48 hits, 33 RBI, 33 runs, 12 doubles and three home runs. In the Pioneers' doubleheader sweep of Queens College on Saturday, May 4 Vaglica recorded the 100th RBI of his career. Defensively, he has 320 putouts and 30 assists for a .983 fielding percentage.
