THE FIRST LOOK
The LIU Post women's lacrosse team enters the ECC Championship game as the No .3 seed with a 16-3 overall record and a 7-1 record in ECC play. The Pioneers are currently ranked No. 8 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) poll and No. 12 in the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Magazine poll and No. 3 in the east region by the NCAA.
Most recently, LIU Post defeated the second-seeded New York Institute of Technology 12-5 in ECC Championship second round matchup at President's Stadium on Thursday, March 2.
Top-seeded No. 13/15 Mercy is 14-4 on the season and has a 7-1 record in conference play. The Mavericks had a bye in the opening round of the ECC Championship and most recently took down fourth-seeded Molloy College 19-9 in the semifinals on Thursday, May 2 in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

The Pioneers are 13-0 all-time against the Mavericks, holding a 44-34 advantage in goals scored.

LIU Post and Mercy last met on Saturday, April 6 in Dobbs Ferry, New York. A late goal by senior
Trish Brisotti helped the Pioneers end a late charge by Mercy and earn the victory, 18-17.
Brisotti was one of five Pioneers with at least three goals in the game, adding one assist for four points. Junior
Brianna Feldman led LIU Post with four goals, while juniors
Paige Sherlock,
Sara Stephens, and
Alyssa Mallery tallied three goals apiece. Junior
Angela Deren added a team-best three assists, while freshman goalkeeper
Hailey Duchnowski compiled 13 saves to earn the victory.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The Pioneers offense has been dominant in 2019, outscoring opponents 284-171 and conference opponents 134-57. LIU Post's 14.95 goals per game ranks third in the ECC.
LIU Post's offense is spearheaded by Mallery, whose 80 goals rank second in the ECC and 115 draw controls both rank third. Her 43 ground balls are sixth. With 64 goals Feldman, who was recently named both ECC Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks, is tied is fifth in the conference in goals with 64 while Deren's 46 assists rank third. Deren is also an ECC Offensive Player of the Week and IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Year honoree.
Other significant contributors to the Pioneer offense include Sherlock who has 46 goals and 35 ground balls, Brisotti who has 27 goals, Stephens who has 17 goals and sophomore
Jamie Alvino who has 19 goals and 17 assists.
Defensively, Duchnowski has had a stellar freshman year between the pipes for LIU Post. Named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on three occasions and IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week once, her 14 wins and 51.3 save percentage rank first in the conference while her 161 saves rank fourth.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
Mercy heads into Saturday's contest riding a six-game winning streak with wins over Molloy, NYIT, Saint Thomas Aquinas College, the University of Bridgeport, the University of the District of Columbia and Millersville University.
The Mavericks are an offensive juggernaut as they lead the ECC in goals with 291 and are second in assists with 142. Mercy also tops the conference in draw controls and draw controls per game with 282 and 15.67. They are second in caused turnovers with 192 and third in ground balls with 168.
Mercy is led by Hunter Isnardi, who set a new NCAA Division II record for career goals with 301 in the Mavericks win over Molloy yesterday. She leads the conference in goals with 90 and in draw controls with 174. Her 90 points rank second, as do her 34 caused turnovers. She ranks second in free position shots after going 22-of-33 and is third in ground balls with 58.
Katherine Sanchez is also a major contributor with 57 goals, 23 draw controls, 19 ground balls and nine assists. Briana Corace has accumulated 34 goals, 15 assists and 21 ground balls while Mary Mackie is the Mavericks' assist-leader with 23.
Emma Jacobsen has started all 18 games at goalkeeper and has a 14-4 record along with 124 saves and a 44.3 save percentage. Her goals against average of 9.13 ranks third in the conference.

Admission will be charged for all fans in attendance for Saturday's championship matchup. Tickets for adults will be $8 and students with valid ID, senior citizens, and children ages 5-12 will be admitted for $4. Children under the age of five will not be charged admission.
