BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 23, 2011) – After the Thanksgiving holiday, both the C.W. Post men's and women's basketball teams will return to game action over the weekend.  The Pioneer women will be taking part in two games at the Dowling College Holiday Tournament while the men will have the first home game of the season on Sunday.

The women's team has started the season 3-1, which includes a three game winning streak after dropping the season opener.  C.W. Post will face off against Caldwell on Saturday, Nov. 26, for a 2 p.m. start and then will start at the same time on Sunday, Nov. 27, against Felician.  Both games will take place at Dowling College.

To this point, the squad has outscored its opponents on average by a total of 8.0 points per game with the team combining for a season average of 73.8 points per game.  The Pioneers have been helped by good team ball movement to create open opportunities with a 19.8 assist per game average.  The team has also controlled the backboard, holding a positive 9.8 average rebounding margin over opponents.

The great ball movement that has been seen so far this year can be greatly contributed to a pair of point guards for the Pioneers.  Junior Ashley Caggiano (Holtsville, N.Y.) and sophomore Kenyatta Sears (Hampton, Va.) have averaged a total of 10.8 assists per game combined, with Caggiano leading the team with six per game.

The Cougars of Caldwell will be the first opponent on the weekend for C.W. Sunday's opponent, the Felician Golden Falcons, is also off to a 1-2 start.  And similar to the Cougars, the team's lone victory came against an ECC opponent in Queens back on Nov. 16 as the Golden Falcons pulled out a 80-40 victory.  Felician also averages 62.3 points per game, while the team's defense has been steady with a 12.0 steals per game to go along with 3.7 blocks a game.
