Scott, Williams Tabbed ECC Preseason Runners of the Year

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Aug. 25, 2015)
- On Tuesday, red-shirt junior Mike Scott (Fultonville, N.Y.) and sophomore Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) were named the East Coast Conference Preseason Runners of the Year for their respective gender, while the LIU Post men's and women's cross country teams were selected to finish second in the 2015 ECC Preseason Polls, as released by the league office.

Scott was an All-ECC first-team selection in 2014, following a second-place finish (25:32.1) at the league championship meet. He also earned a bid to the NCAA Division II National Championships, after clocking a sixth-place time of 31:38.5 at the Northeast Regional Championships.

Williams had a stellar debut campaign for the green and gold, winning the 5k at the ECC Championships in 18:23.7 to earn runner and rookie of the year accolades from the conference. Additionally, the five-time ECC Rookie of the Week honoree qualified for the NCAA National Championships with a second-place showing (21:41.3) at the Northeast Regional race.

The Pioneers were both slotted second in the poll, behind reigning league champion Roberts Wesleyan. The men's squad tallied two first-place votes and 68 points, whereas the women collected one first-place nod and 85 points.

LIU Post begins the 2015 season on Saturday, Sept. 12, when it competes at the Fordham University Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The meet is slated for a 10:30 a.m. start.
