BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 27, 2016) - The LIU Post men's basketball team lost by a 77-67 final to University of New Haven in a non-conference tilt Sunday at the Pratt Recreation Center.

The Pioneers (1-5) got out to a fast start with an 11-0 run to open the contest. Senior forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) amassed five points in the stretch, including a lay-up to ignite the burst. Senior guard Jemal Mosley (Nanuet, N.Y.) contributed a pair of baskets.

However, the Chargers (3-3) fired back with a 19-6 response to grab a 19-17 advantage at the 9:50 mark. Sophomore guard Michael Bourke (South Orange, N.J.) and freshman guard Elijah Bailey (Freeport, N.Y.) each buried two treys in the streak.

New Haven eventually took a 33-32 advantage into the locker room, though the opening 20 minutes of play featured seven lead changes.

In the second half, LIU Post scored the first six points to re-gain a five-point cushion (38-33) with 16:57 remaining. Mosley, who collected 11 points in the game, put the Pioneers back in front with a lay-up on the fast break.

Yet, the Chargers rallied again and later took hold of a 62-53 lead at the 5:06 mark. A pair of Kessly Felizor (Hightstown, N.J.) free throws sparked a 9-0 run that gave New Haven the edge for good.

Freshman forward Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.) had 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in the effort. Freshman guard Richard Altenord (Dix Hills, N.Y.) totaled 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Dotson grabbed 14 rebounds and added seven points. Senior guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) chipped in nine points, five rebounds and three assists.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and his LIU Post squad are back in action Wednesday (Nov. 30), when they face Daemen College in an East Coast Conference showdown at 6 p.m. at the Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville.
