BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Feb. 22, 2017) - The LIU Post men's basketball team rolled to a 90-69 victory against University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference affair Wednesday at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium.
The Pioneers (10-17, 9-8 ECC), who have now won five of their last six, shot an outstanding 52.3 percent (34-of-65) from the field and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from beyond the arc.
Senior forward
Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) and red-shirt junior guard
Aary Bibens (Bennington, Vt.) each scored a team-leading 18 points in the win. Bibens also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Dotson registered eight boards. Junior guard
Kyle McLeggan (Jersey City, N.J.) poured in 15 points. Senior guard
Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) had 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Leading 35-33 with just under three minutes left in the first half, the Pioneers closed out the period on a 14-2 run to grab a 49-35 advantage at the break. McLeggan and Bibens each drained a trifecta in the streak. Freshman guard
Jared Rivers (Westbury, N.Y.) added a three-point play.
The visitors never looked back from there, as LIU Post maintained its double-digit cushion throughout the latter half of play. The Pioneers eventually extended their lead to as many as 25 points (88-63), on a Bibens jumper at the 2:07 mark.
Senior guard
Jemal Mosley (Nanuet, N.Y.) totaled 10 points, five assists and three rebounds in the victory. Freshman forward
Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.) recorded four points, six rebounds and one block in 28 minutes off the bench.
