Bird, Douglas, Kirk Named ECAC Second-Team All-Stars

DANBURY, Conn. (May 16, 2017) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post women's lacrosse team had three players selected to the 2017 All-Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Team.

Senior attacker Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.), senior defender Cara Douglas (West Islip, N.Y.) and junior goalie Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were tabbed as second-team honorees.

Bird started all 19 games this year for the Pioneers, tallying 41 goals and a team-high 20 assists for 61 points. She has been named to the All-ECC and IWLCA All-Region First Team.

In addition, Bird ranked in the Top-15 in the ECC in goals, assists and points and placed fourth amongst the league's leaders in draw controls (60).

Meanwhile, Douglas finished tied for the team lead in caused turnovers (22) and anchored a defensive unit that yielded the third-fewest goals against (121) in the nation. Her efforts have led to All-ECC and IWLCA All-Region first-team honors, as well.

Lastly, Kirk, who was named the 2017 ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, compiled a 16-3 record in 19 starts with a 6.42 goals-against average and Division II-best .543 save percentage.

She also recorded four double-digit save performances in 2017, including a career-high 18-save outing in the ECC title game against Mercy on May 6.
