BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - In its first game in program history at Robert Blitz Field, the LIU Post women's rugby team secured a 15-12 victory over Castleton on Sunday afternoon.

Castleton opened the scoring as Sierra Ostrow-Remy crossed the try line nearly two minutes into the competition.

This would prove to be the only lead the visitors would hold as back-to-back tries by the Pioneers gave the a 10-5 advantage heading into the intermission. Junior center Keyera Williams (Jamaica, N.Y.) scored the green and gold's first ever NCAA try.  Following that, senior prop Taylor Hill (Baldwin, N.Y.) bumped off three tacklers then crashed over the line to score the first of her two tries of the day.

Hill completed her second try of the afternoon just under three minutes into the second-half to extend the LIU Post lead to 15-5.

The green and gold were able to hold the Spartans off the board over the next three-and-one-half minutes when Ostrow-Remy notched her second try of the contest to bring the visitors within five (15-10) but ony 28 seconds left in the game.  This was only enough time for Castleton to record a conversion as time expired, giving the Pioneers the 15-12 victory in their first game played on their home field as an NCAA program.

Head Coach John Royal and his Pioneers are back in action next Sunday (Sept. 17) when they host Sacred Heart University. The contest is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Robert Blitz Field.
