BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Despite a game and career-high 22 points and a game-high 10 rebounds from sophomore
Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor, the LIU Post men's basketball team fell 74-43 to the University of New Haven in its season opener Wednesday night inside the Pratt Recreation Center.
Along with his double-double Ortiz Traylor also blocked two shots. Freshman
Kendell Ogilvie added eight points and eight rebounds and sophomore
Jackson Jordan had six points, including a thunderous fast break dunk with 13:66 on the clock in the first half, and tied the game-high in rebounds with 10. Freshman
Liam Kunkel also contributed seven points
While the Chargers took a 48-17 lead into halftime they had a difficult time containing Ortiz-Traylor in the second half as he poured in 14 points. With 18:10 on the clock he knocked down a three-pointer then sunk a pair of free throws with 9:55 left to play. He added another three-pointer with 7:18 left in the game and followed with another mid-range jumper. With 2:04 remaining he grabbed an offensive rebound and threw down a one-handed dunk then sank a jump shot with nine seconds remaining; the game concluded with a final score 74-43.
