BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – A 33-point, 14-rebound performance from sophomore
Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor could not get the LIU Post men's basketball over the line against the New York Institute of Technology Wednesday night, as it fell 99-62 inside the Pratt Recreation Center.
Along with leading the game in scoring and rebounding with 33 and 14, Ortiz-Traylor also led the game in steals with a career-best five. His season-high 14 rebounds tied his career high as he accumulated his sixth double-double of the season and his fifth game this season with 30 or more points.
Freshman
Kendell Ogilvie added 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals while senior
Jamal David chipped in seven points, four rebounds and two steals.
The Bears took a 12-2 lead with 17:15 on the clock thanks to an early 10-0 run and despite 12 points and eight rebounds from Ortiz-Traylor in the opening half, the Pioneers were unable to make a dent in NYIT's lead as they trailed 56-28 at the half. While NYIT had an even harder time containing Ortiz-Traylor in the second half as he produced 21 points and six rebounds, LIU Post had difficulty chipping away at the Bears' lead as it ultimately fell 99-62.
