ROCKVILLE CENTER, N.Y. – Sophomore
Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor eclipsed the 30-point mark for the seventh time this season after pouring in a game-high 33 points against Molloy College Wednesday night but it could not get the LIU Post men's basketball team over the line as it fell 108-67 inside Quealy Gymnasium.
Along with his game-high 33 points, Ortiz Traylor tied career-bests in three-pointers made with five and free throws made with 12 after going a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. He also added seven rebounds, a game-high three steals, two blocks and two assists.
Redshirt-senior
Neil Feminella led LIU Post in rebounding with eight and also added four points and an assist while freshman
Nah'Jel Sands contributed nine points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
While Sands scored the Pioneers' opening basket with 17:59 on the clock the Lions took an early 11-5 lead. Ortiz-Traylor sunk a pair of free throws with 16:16 left in the half that narrowed Molloy's advantage to four but the Lion's offensive firepower was too much for the Pioneers to contain in the early stages of the first half. Ortiz-Traylor knocked down a three-pointer with 9:45 remaining in the half that brought Molloy's lead to single figures, 29-20, but it was the closest LIU Post would get for the remainder of the contest.
