EASTON, Mass. – In its final non-conference matchup of the season, the LIU Post men's basketball team fell 81-51 to Stonehill College Saturday afternoon inside Merkert Gymnasium.
Sophomore
Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor eclipsed the 20-point mark for the eighth time this season as his 21 points and nine rebounds led the Pioneers in both categories. Freshman
Seth Goumba added 13 points and five rebounds.
The Pioneers had a strong start to the first half as Goumba scored the game's opening basket with a layup with 19:26 on the clock. He then connected on a three-pointer with 17:09 remaining to tie the score 5-5 and while the Skyhawks took the lead from there, sophomore
Jackson Jordan's layup with 13:40 left in the half narrowed Stonehill's lead to 12-9.
While the Skyhawks went into halftime with a sizable lead, they had difficulty containing Ortiz-Traylor in the second half as he produced 13 points and five rebounds.
He knocked down a jumper with 17:10 on the clock and followed with a three-pointer with 12:03 remaining. He then completed a there-point play with 8:33 on the clock after making a jumper in the paint on a break and scored on a layup with 4:25 left in the half. Ortiz-Traylor closed the game out with another made three-pointer with 23 seconds left to play.
