BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – A strong first half along with a 26-point, 19-rebound haul from sophomore Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor was not enough to get the LIU Post men's basketball team over the line against the University of the District of Columbia Thursday night as the Pioneers fell 102-70 inside the Pratt Recreation Center.

Ortiz-Traylor's 26 points and 19 rebounds were game-highs while his rebounding total was also a career-high as he notched his ninth double-double of the season. He also added a team-high three blocks.

Freshman Kendell Ogilvie contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and two steals while sophomore Jackson Jordan added 10 points and four rebounds.

LIU Post's 45 rebounds and 34 defensive rebounds were season-highs while its 11 offensive rebounds fell one short of its season-best.

The Pioneers opened the game in impressive fashion; back-to-back jumpers from Jackson gave LIU Post a 4-1 lead with 17:56 on the clock. A fast break layup by Ogilvie with 16:29 left to play gave the Pioneers a 4-point lead, 10-6, its biggest of the game.

UDC leveled the score 13-13 with 15:23 on the clock but Ortiz-Traylor threw down an emphatic one-handed dunk over a Firebird defender and made the free throw as he was fouled on the play with 14:48 left in the half to give LIU Post a 15-13 lead.

The Firebirds' first lead of the game came with 14:19 on the clock and they were able to expand it to a 53-38 by halftime. Despite LIU Post's best efforts, UDC was too much to handle in the second half as they prevailed 102-70.
