LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The No. 5/7 LIU Post men's lacrosse team proved to be too powerful for the Georgian Court University Lions as the Pioneers rolled to a 19-6 victory in non-conference play.
Freshman
Jake Gillis led the Pioneers with his third-consecutive six-goal game. The reigning East Coast Conference Player of the Week also dished out three assists for nine total points. Junior
Mike Kadnar and sophomore
William Snelders tallied three goals each. At the faceoff circle, senior
Connor Farrell finished 21-for-24 with a game-high 19 ground balls and also added his third goal of the season.
LIU Post held a 59-31 edge in shot attempts and a 37-19 advantage in shots on goal. The Green and Gold collected 50 ground balls to just 39 for the Lions and successfully cleared 16 of 17 attempts.
It was a back-and-forth start to the game with the score tied at 3-3 with 2:49 remaining in the opening quarter before the Pioneers took over. Gillis' third goal of the game sparked a 14-1 run that carried until the start of the fourth quarter with the Pioneers leading 17-4. Georgian Court tallied two goals to begin the final period before the Pioneers scored twice to close out the game, giving them the 13-goal margin of victory.
The Pioneers return to ECC play on Saturday, March 30 when they host Molloy College at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
