STAMFORD, Conn. – The record-setting season for senior faceoff specialist
Connor Farrell has led to another professional lacrosse opportunity as the Chrome Lacrosse Club selected the Holtsville native with the 22nd pick in the fourth round of the inaugural Premier Lacrosse League College Draft on Monday, April 22.
The PLL brings the sport of lacrosse to a national stage for the first time through a tour-based model, complete with the best players the sport has to offer. Co-founded by lacrosse superstar, philanthropist, and investor Paul Rabil and his brother, serial entrepreneur and investor, Mike Rabil, the Premier Lacrosse League is backed by an investment group comprised of The Raine Group, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), The Chernin Group, and Blum Capital. The PLL season will begin in June 2019, with six teams, embarking on a 14-week season that concludes with a playoff and PLL championship game. The PLL season will be distributed through an exclusive media-rights agreement with NBC Sports Group.
Farrell has been unstoppable in the faceoff circle this season, leading Division II with an .844 winning percentage. In 13 games, Farrell has won 275 of 326 faceoffs, while also collecting 241 ground balls. His 241 ground balls are just 11 shy of the Division II single-season record held by Kevin Reisman of Limestone College set during the 2016 season. His 18.83 ground balls per game also leads all Division II players this and is on pace to set a new single-season Division II record.
The senior stormed onto the national stage this season, setting a torrid pace at the faceoff X. During a win against No. 1-ranked Merrimack College, Farrell set two Division II records by winning 34 faceoffs and collecting 30 ground balls. Earlier this season he was drafted with the No. 42 pick during the fifth round of the Major League Lacrosse College Draft by the New York Lizards.
Chrome LC opens its season on Saturday, June 1 against Archers LC at Gillette Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
