THE FIRST LOOK

The LIU Post men's lacrosse team captured the No. 2 seed for the East Coast Conference Championship after compiling a 5-1 record during the regular season. NYIT grabbed the No. 3 seed when it defeated Roberts Wesleyan College in the regular season finale. The Bears enter the postseason with a 3-3 mark in league play and a 5-12 record overall.
I
NSIDE THE SERIES

LIU Post holds a 26-16 edge in the 42-game history of the two squads. NYIT has had success in recent history prior to the 2019 season, winning four-consecutive games during the 2017 and 2018 campaigns. Overall, LIU Post holds a 6-4 record during the last 10 meetings dating back to 2014.

LAST TIME THEY MET

The two squads faced off at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on April 13, with LIU Post earning a 17-14 victory on the home turf.
Junior Alex Russell matched his career-high with four goals to lead LIU Post, while sophomore William Snelders tallied three goals and senior Connor Farrell and freshman Jake Gillis tallied two goals each. Junior Mike Kadnar handed out three assists to tie for the game-high. Farrell finished 26-for-35 on faceoffs, collecting a game-high 23 ground balls.

On the defensive end, senior Bryan Ochs made 11 saves to earn the win in goal. LIU Post held a 48-22 advantage in ground balls and cleared 16 of 17 attempts. The Green and Gold committed just 13 turnovers, leading to a 47-35 edge in shot attempts.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

LIU Post's offensive attack has been stellar all season, ranking fifth in Division II with 16.14 goals per game. Snelders leads the Pioneers with 3.64 goals per game, ranking fourth in the country and Gillis sits just behind at 14th with 3.14 goals. The offense starts at the faceoff X where Farrell leads the country with an .825 winning percentage and 17.71 ground balls per game.
On the defensive end, the Green and Gold rank 12th in the country in clearing percentage (.864). The back line is anchored by senior P.J. Usak and redshirt-junior John Harding, while sophomore Ryan Blume has also had an outstanding season. Between the pipes Ochs has stopped 53-percent of shots faced this season, allowing just over nine goals per game to earn all 10 victories.

SCOUTING THE BEARS

NYIT has struggled by their standards this season, especially on the defensive end where they are just one save behind Saint Thomas Aquinas College for most saves in the ECC this season. Goalkeeper Bryan Jockers ranks fifth in the league with 10.47 saves per game as opponents have been able to capitalize on the offensive end at a fairly high efficiency.
On the offensive end, NYIT averages just over 11 goals per game, led by Lenny Innammoranto, Joseph Duchnowski, and Matt Murphy who each boast over 40 points on the season. Innammoranto's 38 tallies ranks fifth in the ECC this season and has scored three or more goals six times.
