ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Despite a 50-point second half, the LIU Post men's basketball team dropped an East Coast Conference matchup at Roberts Wesleyan, falling 90-78 at the Voller Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman guard Austin Kennedy opened the scoring for the Pioneers (6-11, 4-3 ECC) with a pair of treys in the first 2:25 minutes of action.

The two squads kept the game closely contested over the next 10 minutes of play with neither side seeing an advantage higher than three points.  A dunk by forward Hunter Powell capped off a fast break to give the visitors their last tie of the afternoon before the Redhawks (11-5, 4-3 ECC) took the score from 26-all to a 11-point lead following a 13-2 run to close out the half.

A jumper by Jared Rivers just over two minutes into the second stanza brought the green and gold within five, but RWC would not allow the Pioneers to creep any closer as the Redhawks secured the 90-78 victory.

Rivers was one of four Pioneers to notch a double-digit point total with a game-high 21, while Powell (16), Aary Bibens (13) and Kennedy (12) chipped in as well. Rivers also led both sides with six assists and three steals.

LIU Post shot at a 44.4% clip on the game, including 41.4% from downtown.  The visitors held a 17-7 advantage on points off turnovers and turnovers (8-15).

The Pioneers look to bounce back when they return home on Wednesday, Jan. 17. They're set to host the University of the District of Columbia for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Pratt Recreation Center.
