SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. – Freshman
Jacqueline Ginty set a new program record in the 60-meter dash to lead an impressive performance by the LIU Post indoor track and field teams at the St. Joseph's College Winter Invitational Feb. 11.
Ginty clocked a time of 7.89 seconds during the finals, cracking her own school record of 7.90 seconds set on Jan. 13 at the Yale Collegiate Invitational and helping her take first place out of 58 competitors in the event. Her day was not done though, as she teamed up with sister
Kathryn Ginty, and sophomores
Nicolette Agostinacchio and
Alexandria Okon to take first place in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:48.67, holding off Rowan University by .09 second for the top spot.
Senior
Talya Williams added the final victory for the women, as she crossed the finish line with a personal-best time of 2:19.65 in the 800-meter run, taking first place by nearly six seconds. Okon also added a great performance during the 400-meter run, recording a personal-best time of 1:00.93.
In the field events, sophomore
Kaitlyn Klein and freshman
Alyssa Farrell added a second and third place finish in the weight throw, recording tosses of 14.10 and 13.03 meters, respectively.
On the men's side, graduate student
Stefan Adams took home first place in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:00.03. Adams along with senior
Ramel Joseph, and freshmen
Destyn Harding and
Jaelin Hood took second in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:32.36. Senior
Lance Edwards followed up with a second-place finish with a personal-best finish in 4:38.95 during the one-mile run.
Freshmen
Joseph Dorso and
Erick Rivera also added personal-bests on Sunday, finishing in 2:06.09 and 2:12.00, respectively during the 800-meter run. Freshman
Troy Benson also added a personal-best time in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 24.99.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Feb. 16 when they participate in the Artie O'Connor Meet in their final tune-up before the East Coast Conference Championships in two weeks.
