Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor and a career-high 14 points from sophomore
Jackson Jordan.
Ortiz-Traylor's 28 points and nine rebounds were team-highs and along with his career-best 14 points Jordan added six rebounds and three assists. Freshman
Kendell Ogilvie contributed eight points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Pioneers had a strong start to the game as they held the lead for 14:29 in the first half. Ortiz-Traylor got things rolling, knocking down a three-pointer with 18:44 on the clock and scoring the game's opening basket; LIU Post's biggest lead came with 11:08 left in the half when Jordan sunk a mid-range jumper off an Ortiz-Traylor assist that gave LIU Post a 17-11 advantage.
LIU Post's final lead came with 8:01 remaining in the half after Ortiz-Traylor layup gave the Pioneers a 22-20 lead. Redshirt-senior
Neil Feminella banked-in a heave from half court with time expiring in the first half that saw the Pioneers go into halftime with a six-point deficit, 41-35.
While the Pioneers were able to trim Mercy's lead to three with 14:08 remaining after a pair of free throws from freshman
Nah'Jel Sands, the second half belonged to the Mavericks as they ended up prevailing 87-65.
