CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Dec. 20, 2016) - After averaging a double-double last week, LIU Post men's basketball freshman forward Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was chosen as the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.

He is the second Pioneer rookie to be honored by the league this season. Freshman guard Jared Rivers (Westbury, N.Y.) received the same award on Dec. 5.

Elisias averaged 11.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game to help the green and gold to a pair of conference victories. He also shot 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the field and committed just four turnovers.

Elisias, who has scored in double figures in each of his last three contests, opened the week with an 11-point, 11-rebound night in a 62-53 win at Mercy last Wednesday (Dec. 14).

He followed that up with a 12-point, 10-rebound showing Saturday (Dec. 17), as the Pioneers earned a hard-fought 80-71 victory over NYIT.

Elisias and his LIU Post side return to action next Friday (Dec. 30), when they face Merrimack College in a non-conference affair in North Andover, Mass. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
