Ortiz-Traylor of Men’s Basketball Named to All-Met Second Team

NEW YORK – The Metropolitan Basketball Writer's Association announced it's Division II men's basketball awards Monday and sophomore Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor of the LIU Post men's basketball team was named to the All-Met Second Team.
 
Ortiz Traylor, who was also an All-East Coast Conference (ECC) Second Team honoree, set a new program record for highest single season scoring average in 2018-19 after averaging 27.8 point per game. Along with leading the ECC in points per game he also finished fourth in NCAA Division II.
 
He recorded 10 games of scoring 30 or more points and 12 games of 20 more while scoring in double figures in each of the Pioneers' 25 games.
 
Along with his scoring prowess, Ortiz-Traylor also made his presence felt on the boards and the defensive end; his 9.8 rebounds per game were ranked third in the ECC.  His 245 total rebounds were also third in the conference and his 181 defensive rebounds ranked second. Ortiz-Traylor's 39 blocks and 44 steals were third and fourth in the league.
